Students Activities

1. The Buttermilk Campaign, organized by MBSI and its local chapter, MicroAura@SFC Club, St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet Hyderabad, Telangana state, aimed to promote buttermilk as a healthier alternative to cold drinks. Buttermilk tetra packs were distributed among students, teaching, and non-teaching staff during the Valedictory Ceremony of MicroAura@SFC Club and Department of Microbiology meetings. The initiative successfully raised awareness about the nutritional benefits of buttermilk, encouraging healthier beverage choices.

2. Department of Zoology in collaboration with MBSI student unit at Kalinga University, Naya Raipur promoted buttermilk drinking.

3. Celebration of ‘Buttermilk Festival – Takrotsav’ at Petlad College
A ‘Takrotsav’ (Buttermilk Festival) was organized on March 25, 2025, under the joint initiative of the S.K. Microbiology Department of Shri R.K. Parikh Arts and Science College, managed by the Petlad Education Trust, and the Microbiologist Society, India (MBSI). The event was conducted under the guidance of the college Principal, Dr. Vimal S. Joshi, and Prof. Arvind Deshmukh (President, MBSI).
A large number of teachers and students (about 100) participated enthusiastically in the program. The event was coordinated by the Head of the Microbiology Department, Prof. Baldev D. Joshi, along with staff members Dr. Sagar S. Vaidya, Shikha Rana, Rikita Amin, Daksha Raval, and Deepak Thakor.
The program began with Shikha Rana explaining the significance of buttermilk. Afterward, fresh buttermilk was distributed to all attendees. The college staff and students enjoyed the event and learned about the benefits of buttermilk, committing to including it in their daily diet.

4. Students unit of Microbiologists society of Shankarlal Khandelwal College Akola organised Drink Buttermilk be Healthy campaign today and distributed buttermilk to the Principal, staff and students of the college.

6. “The inauguration of the Student Unit at the Department of Microbiology, Shri Shivaji Mahavidyalaya, Barshi, was done with the auspicious hands of Prof. Ranjekar M.K., Maharashtra President of the Microbiologist Society of India. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Satish Gurav, industrialist and biofertilizer consultant from Sangli, along with HOD Prof. Mane D.B. and faculty members. Additionally, a ‘Drink Buttermilk and Stay Healthy’ campaign was successfully conducted.”

7. Balasaheb Desai College Patan in association with the Microbiologist Society,India carried out the buttermilk campaign.

9. मायक्रोबायालॉजिस्ट सोसायटी ऑफ इंडिया च्या वतीने ‘ताक प्या आणि निरोगी रहा’ हे अभियान राबविण्याचे आवाहन नुकतेच करण्यात आले आहे. ताक हे प्राचीन काळापासून आहारात घेतले जाणारे आणि भारतीय ज्ञान परंपरेतून निर्माण झालेले एक पौष्टिक पेय आहे. यातील पोषक घटक आणि उपयुक्त जीवाणूंचा शारीरिक आणि मानसिक आरोग्यावर सकारात्मक परिणाम होतो. जागतिक महिला दिनाचे औचित्य साधून आज दिनांक ८ मार्च २०२५ रोजी, पुणे येथील भारती विद्यापीठाच्या यशवंतराव मोहिते महाविद्यालयाच्या सूक्ष्मजीवशास्त्र विभागामार्फत सर्व महिला प्राध्यापकांना ताकाचे आहारातील महत्व सांगून ताक पिण्यास देण्यात आले. सर्व महिलांनी यास चांगला प्रतिसाद दिला.

21. On ocassion of World Health day, 7th April 2025 Buttermilk Awareness Campaign was organised by Department of Microbiology, GhulamNabi Azad Arts Commerce and Science College, Barshitakli, Dist-Akola in association with Microbiologist Society of India. On this event Oral/Poster presentation & Rangoli making were also organised. Total 83 students (UG & PG) have participated.

22. On Women’s Day special, Department of Biotechnology, VNSGU, promoted Drink buttermilk as a healthy lifestyle for all students and faculty members. We initiated to encourage and spread awareness to students and staff members about its benefits, advantages and nutritional importance. In addition, Dr. Gaurav shah delivered some excellent facts about buttermilk: “What Nectar is for Gods and goddesses, buttermilk is for human beings,” a quote that sums up the importance of buttermilk in our lives. Buttermilk is probably one of the most common dairy products in an Indian household. Buttermilk has many health benefits, including aiding digestion, building strong bones, and reducing the risk of osteoporosis. It’s also a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. Buttermilk’s probiotics help with digestion and can ease bloating and constipation. Buttermilk is low in calories and fat, and can help you feel full. Buttermilk’s high water content and electrolytes help keep you hydrated. Buttermilk’s probiotics help support a healthy balance of good gut bacteria, which keeps your immune system strong.
